Speaking in tongues etiquette
The etiquette of speaking in tongues can be found in the scripture 1 Corinthians 14.
The ability to speak in tongues is one of the gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12: 7 - 11)and not something we go to a school to learn like we would English, French, Spanish, Chinese or whatever language.
When one speaks in tongue they speak to God not man. Hence it only benefits the one speaking not the hearer unless there is someone who can interpret so that those around can benefit and be able to say AMEN and glorify God with you.
1 Corinthians 14 vs 27-28
‘If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.’
I hope this answers your question.
